  • Record number of flood warnings as landslides trap residents
  • Month’s rain in 48 hours engulfs more than a thousand homes

Swathes of Britain are facing days of disruptions after an onslaught of wind and rain from Storm Dennis triggered an unprecedented number of

flood warnings. More than 600 alerts were issued across England by the Environment Agency, while parts of south Wales were hit by a month’s worth of rain in just 48 hours as landslides left residents trapped in their homes. Major

incidents were declared in a number of areas as more than 1,000 homes across the UK were left underwater. Ground already saturated from last weekend’s Storm Ciara is believed to have driven the severe flooding.
